Ashbourne College is based in Kensington in the heart of the capital, is one of the most selective and successful colleges in London. At least 50% of our students progress to top British universities each year, including Cambridge and Oxford; the most popular destinations include LSE, ImperialCollege, UCL and King’s College. Many of these students take degrees in medicine, engineering, mathematics, the sciences, business and finance, as well as creative subjects such as art and fashion.
In the last two years, 10 students gained entry to Oxbridge in different subjects areas, ranging from Sciences to Art and Humanities. Our success lies largely in the high degree of individual attention given to students. In addition to extremely small classes, Ashbourne operates a unique personal tutor system. This provides excellent pastoral care from a member of staff whom the students meet for two hours a week and are helped with extended writing, note-taking, goal-setting and organisation of time.
In their final year they will also be guided through the complex process of applying to university through UCAS. Ashbourne offers different pathway programmes for Medical School, Engineering, Oxbridge, Art and Finance. These programmes run along the A level at no extra cost to support and prepare the students for their university applicatiom. The aim is to help the students to gain better knowledge about what the universities are looking for and what are expected of an applicant.
Our main focus is A-level studies so the majority of our students' age ranges from 16 to 19 years old. With 60% of the student body being British, we are also lucky to have excellent students from over 45 different nationalities. Most of the lower sixth students came to us from a different school; it is very easy to make new friends.
We are not a boarding school so if you are an international student or from outside London, you will have the option of staying in student hostels or host families. The college will provide you with a list of accommodation options at which our students have stayed before.
