Who are LVS Ascot?

LVS Ascot is a co-educational, non-selective, independent school offering day and boarding places to children aged 4 - 18 years. It is one of three schools owned and managed by the Licensed Trade Charity, which has a proud heritage, educating boys and girls since 1803. It can be found just down the road from Ascot Racecourse and Englemere Pond; the late Queen was the school’s patron.

Facilities

LVS Ascot is set in a beautiful parkland, a vibrant hub with easy access to the M3, M4 and M25 motorways, as well as Heathrow and Gatwick airports. The campus includes an infant & junior school including reception, senior school and sixth form facilities as well as four boarding houses within a spacious 26-acre site.

LVS Ascot facilities include infant & junior school environmental garden, forest school, indoor swimming pool, fully equipped 250-seater theatre with state-of-the-art light and sound, learning resource centre, astro pitch and fitness centre with large sports hall, plus a wellness centre and dining hall. The dedicated health & wellbeing centre offers a complete service for physical and mental health and wellbeing. It is split into 2 areas, a medical centre predominantly dealing with physical ailments and medication, and the wellbeing hub providing holistic support with mental health. The new VR classrooms with 20 new headsets allow the opportunity to bring lessons to life; ride the bus in history with civil rights activist Rosa Parks, get to grips with the human body in biology – the immersive experiences are endless.

Academics

The school celebrates individuality and offers a rounded education that delivers academic rigor alongside sporting, performing and creative opportunities.

While the school is passionately non-selective, it does offer scholarships for entry into the Senior School (Y7) and Sixth Form.

Expectations are high and the children are ambitious for themselves, but there’s an emphasis on being happy, inquisitive, robust and kind. The bi-product of this, is that they have the tools to reach their full potential – helped, no doubt, from class sizes of 15 (occasionally rising to 22 in the top sets of maths and English).

Co-curricular

There is a varied co-curricular programme within the Senior school across the four main areas of sport, drama, music and the Duke of Edinburgh Awards, taking place before and after school. The co-curricular activities are based around the schools LVS 4 programme – Exercise, Enrichment, Enjoyment and Extension.

Proud of its excellent academic & pastoral care, staff across the school work together to ensure that every student’s personal development is nurtured, believing that encouragement and support are essential to help young people become caring, confident citizens for the future.

Boarding

The LVS Ascot boarding community is a culturally diverse community and a key part of the school. There are both boarders from the UK and overseas. Boarders live in one of four houses based within the school campus, the houses are divided between boys and girls and children can board from the age of 10 years old.

Fees, scholarships, and discounts

Income generated by the school is re-invested in the site, to offer the highest standard of educational and co-curricular facilities and is also used to fund the work of the Charity.

Term fees include lunch for day pupils and all meals for weekly and full boarders, books, exam fees, sports fixture travel, personal accident insurance, the majority of after-school activities and evening and weekend activities for boarders.

Academic Scholarships and Bursaries are available, special discounts offered to HM Forces, Diplomats, those who work in the licensed trade and senior local academic staff. Visit the website to find out more.

The Senior School

LVS offer small class sizes and a range of subjects giving great opportunity for focused learning and guidance from the teaching staff. The student to teacher relationship is key to an LVS senior school education.

At LVS there are a whole host of subjects on offer to the children alongside the core subjects of English, maths and science. These include languages (French and Spanish), geography, computer science, philosophy, physical education, media studies and design and technology plus more.

Academic learning is supported by subject-specific enrichment sessions, breakaway classes, enrichment speakers and school trips. For pupils who may be struggling, there is a support network in place. The children are supported with a combination of teacher and pastoral support and there is also the additional learning needs department should additional support be required.

Sixth Form

LVS Ascot Sixth Form offers small classes for focused studies and more student-teacher interaction in over 30 different A-level and BTEC courses. Career’s advice is offered alongside the academic advice given on university course selection to help our students calmly navigate what can be a difficult crossroad. The majority of LVS Ascot Sixth Form students go straight to university, while others take a gap year or decide that work-based training will suit them better.

Sixth Form pupils at LVS have their own dedicated centre, separate to the rest of the school. It has study rooms and a place to socialise allowing pupils to discover more freedoms and independent responsibility.
