As a well-regarded boarding school, Lancing College has a strong tradition in welcoming pupils with parents living all over the world. We offer international students a co-educational boarding and day school set in the beautiful South Downs and within an hour of London and close to Heathrow and Gatwick airports.

Our staff at Lancing provide the very best environment and inspiration for our pupils to flourish. Lancing pupils are young people with their own talents and ambitions. We nurture and expand these skills, inspiring them to excel as individuals. We have a healthy mix of nationalities across the College. Pupils are able to connect and learn about each other’s cultures, and they tell us how much they value these lifelong global friendships.

We support and challenge our brightest academics and encourage the development of the whole person, be that in sport, the arts or a multitude of other areas. The College is a dynamic, creative place, underpinned by Christian values. In the later stages of school life, pupils in the Sixth Form receive extensive help when considering their university options, with tutors working with them from an early stage to give personal support and advice. On leaving Lancing, pupils are not only happy and confident but they also have a real sense of their place as global citizens. Notably, many of our international pupils go on to gain places at top UK universities.

Lancing College is a seven-day-a-week boarding school. The College provides a secure environment, with plenty of open space and fresh air, to ensure that our boarders – who comprise 60 percent of the school – are busy at weekends. Housemasters and Housemistresses are a focal point of support and communication for parents and pupils. When we speak to our boarders, they talk about enjoying being part of a community, building friendships, learning to be independent and having access to a wide range of opportunities. Parents are reassured that their sons and daughters are receiving the very best pastoral care.

From the moment that pupils join Lancing they become part of a community and – wherever they lay their heads at night – they all benefit from the all-inclusive care and support of a boarding school ethos. Lancing is a place of scholarship, where pupils learn with integrity. We teach our students to be curious and to think deeply, for themselves and for the right reasons, underpinned by the essential attributes of learning. Our school is not an exam factory and our teachers take delight in going far beyond teaching to the test. Our learning is deeper and our excellent exam results are a wonderful by-product of the more profound and long-lasting scholarly rigour that underpins all that we do.

Boarding houses are single-sex and span the five year groups in the College. We find that this is an important element of the boarding house family. Girls and boys can spend time with their own age group while benefiting from having older ‘siblings’ to guide them and, as they grow older, take on a role in guiding younger pupils.

Learning beyond the classroom is an important part of an education at Lancing. The College offers a wide range of opportunities for pupils to participate in sports, music, drama, and numerous clubs and societies. One of our most recent additions, the Equestrian Centre, has proved very popular since its opening in spring 2017.
