Prince’s Gardens, an independent preparatory school based in the heart of Kensington for children aged 3-11 years, features a high-tech science lab and a Makerspace, as well as offering an exceptional learning environment for your child to grow in the arts, music, sport and drama. It is also the only central London preparatory school offering two acres of private gardens.

At Prince’s Gardens Preparatory School we have one aim, to give each pupil an education which enables them to flourish. By focusing on academic excellence, character development and the nurturing of a global perspective, we equip children for all the challenges that life can offer.

We want to foster a love of learning within each child, for them to be curious and ambitious so that they leave us confident and excited about the future.

A Prince's Gardens education equips our children with the confidence and resourcefulness that prepares them to succeed in a fast-changing world. The rich and exciting curriculum instils high standards and we use the wealth of local resources, including world-class museums, Hyde Park and local sporting and music facilities, to inspire a love of learning.

Academic Excellence

At Prince's Gardens, academic excellence is ensured through an innovative curriculum taught by experts. There is a rigorous programme of tracking and assessments to ensure there is a complete understanding of a pupil's progress. A broad curriculum with specialist staff covering a wide range of subjects, including drama, art, music, sport, and languages creates an exciting and varied day for each child. Our STEAM education supports independent learning and creates a dynamic environment where our children are encouraged to think critically and reflect meaningfully on their work.

Inspiring Facilities

Dedicated spaces, including the Makerspace, separate science lab and science theory room, a two-acre garden, Hyde Park (within a five-minute walk) and Imperial College Sports Centre next door, allow for regular immersive and expressive learning opportunities. Prince's Garden's proximity to London's amazing museums, such as the Natural History Museum, the Science Museum and the V&A, provides pupils with huge amounts of inspiration and an opportunity to bring learning to life, using London as their classroom.

An Individual Approach

Focused feedback from teaching staff to pupils allows for personalised learning and helps guide pupils to become reflective learners. Pupils are also encouraged to take responsibility for their own learning by providing opportunities for independent learning. A home-from-home environment with biophilic features truly promotes the well-being, happiness and academic success of every single one of our bright young learners. Classrooms across the four Grade II listed Victorian townhouses are flooded with light, are designed to create relaxing learning environments, and are fitted with carbon monoxide detectors so we can ensure the best air quality within the school.

11+ and Destination Schools

Our curriculum ensures that our pupils are thoroughly prepared, not only for 11+ entrance exams and assessments but also for the next stage of their education.

Study skills, reasoning, current affairs, and literacy practice are incorporated within the timetable and we also support scholarship candidates and presentation skills. Our engaging curriculum provides many experiences for our pupils to share at interviews and they excel during group tasks where schools look for creativity, collaboration, communication, and critical thinking skills.

Parents are supported on every step of the 11+ journey, with our senior leadership team hosting annual presentations for parents, covering the transition to Senior School.

The 21/22 Year 6 cohort left Prince's Gardens to join some of the most successful day and boarding schools across the UK, including St Paul’s School for Boys, Latymer Upper School, Dulwich College, Francis Holland, and Putney High School. This excellent outcome reflects the academic and creative talent across the year group and proves how dedicated both our students and teachers have been in achieving their very best.
