Abbotsholme School is a co-education independent day and boarding school for pupils aged 2 – 18, set within 140 acres of rural countryside on the Derbyshire and Staffordshire border. Founded in 1889 by Dr. Cecil Reddie, Abbotsholme School is a truly unique school, we are dedicated to ensuring that our pupils are happy, challenged and supported. Since our school opened 135 years ago, we have always had a fresh approach to education. We are constantly looking for ways to improve our pupils’ agility with critical thinking, deftness with problem solving and confidence with oracy in a future where these skills will be of paramount importance.

Dr. Cecil Reddie’s vision for education encompasses everything we still hold dear today - academic rigour and a wealth of co-curricular opportunities. From the very beginning, our school has favoured a more liberal and holistic approach to education, giving our pupils academic, personal and social development in equal measure.
