David Benson
David attended St. Paul’s School in West London before reading Social and Political Sciences at Cambridge University. Following a year as a management consultant, he entered teaching in 2004 via the Teach First scheme. In 2013 he became the Founding Principal of Kensington Aldridge Academy (KAA), a start-up West London school which opened initially with just one year group and then grew to become a full school of 1,300 pupils and 200 staff. Under David’s leadership, KAA was rated Ofsted ‘Outstanding’ in all categories and consistently achieved A Level results in top 10% of UK schools in terms of value added. Over half of all Sixth Form leavers progressed to Russell Group universities each year – often being the first generation in their family to do so. KAA was awarded TES ‘School of the Year’ in 2017/18 and David was named by TES as one of the top ten educationalists in the UK that year. David started his second Headship at Mill Hill in October of 2023 and is committed to leading the school into an exciting next chapter, at the heart of the wider group.
