Colin Baty joined Danes Hill School as Head in April 2025. Originally from New Zealand, Colin studied at Waikato University before embarking on a distinguished 25-year career in independent education. He holds the National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH) from the National College of School Leadership and has served as a Headmaster for over 14 years.
Colin has led two co-educational prep schools: Great Walstead Prep in Sussex, and most recently Bedales Prep, where he has been Head since 2017. His vision for education places equal importance on academic curiosity, personal growth, wellbeing, and the joy of discovery.
Colin is married to Debs, who has a wealth of experience working with children across all age ranges in pastoral, wellbeing, and mental health roles. Together they have three children.
