Meet Frensham Heights New Head, Ben McCarey
Frensham Heights School is delighted to welcome Ben McCarey as its new Head (from September 2024). He joins from Holyport College where he was Head for 7 years. He replaces Andrew Fisher, previously Head at Frensham for 15 years from 2004 – 2018, who returned for the 2023-24 academic year during the recruitment of a new Head.
Ben comes from a long line of teachers, grew up in boarding schools and, following nearly ten years working in state comprehensives in Oxfordshire and then inner London, returned to living and working in a boarding school, at Holyport College. He is a qualified English teacher having read English Literature at the University of York and completed his teacher training at Oxford University. He has moved to Frensham with his wife, Becky (an HR Manager), his children Millie (9) and Felix (5) and his springer spaniel Dolly.
“It has long been an ambition of mine to join the Frensham community and I am honoured and humbled to be leading the Frensham Heights community as it enters its second century. Frensham is a unique and wonderful school whose place in the modern world has never been more important or relevant. The education we offer at Frensham is one which ensures our children are well qualified and well educated and, most importantly, free to be kids in a world where we all grow up too quickly.” Ben McCarey, Head.
