With the motto of ‘Aim Higher’, and recently named as The Sunday Times Schools Guide Comprehensive School of the Year 2019, St George’s School in Harpenden is one of the best performing non-selective schools in the U.K. It is one of only 40 state boarding schools and enables boarders the opportunity to be part of a small close knit boarding community with all the academic and extra-curricluar benefits that a large secondary school has to offer. We provide a warm, secure, friendly and stable environment within the Christian context of the School. Boarding at St George’s provides a structured framework within which students will benefit from a first class secondary education and grow up to be the kind of well-rounded and broad-minded young men and women of whom the school, their parents and the community will be proud. Honesty, trust, respect, equality and openness are values ingrained in those who board at St George’s.
The School has three boarding houses with accommodation for up to 130 boarders. Boys in Years 7 to 12 live in Crosthwaite House and girls in Years 7 to 12 live in Keswick House. Those who board in Year 13 live in Skiddaw House, a small modern house, which represents a small stepping stone towards more independent university living. Having completed major refurbishment in Crosthwaite and Keswick houses this summer we are now proud to be able to offer all of our sixth form boarders en-suite accommodation.
The School has excellent road and rail links being situated in between Luton and St Albans, just off the M1, and just 30 minutes away by train from St Pancras International. We are also a short walk from the picturesque town of Harpenden.
We would welcome you at any time to pay us a visit and get a flavour if what makes St George’s the unique and special place that it is!
