For 40 years, Southbank has stood at the forefront of providing a world-class education to children and young people aged 3-18 years from London’s international community and the UK.
Set over 3 central London campuses in Hampstead, Kensington and Westminster, at the heart of the school are the programmes of the International Baccalaureate. These are challenging curricula that have been carefully developed to encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.
Enter one of our classrooms and we’re sure you’ll be impressed by the enthusiasm, confidence and creativity of our students. Thanks to our exceptional teaching staff and the IB curriculum, we help children and young people to become inquisitive learners who love to broaden their minds, always think critically, and do not shy away from challenging assumptions.
Without doubt, London is one of the most amazing cities on earth. At every turn, it offers captivating history, dynamic diversity, world-leading culture and art, and glorious green spaces. As a school, we ensure that our students enjoy and learn from all the rich resources available to them by using London as our classroom. This includes organising visits to museums, art galleries, historic buildings, theatres, concerts, student conferences, parks, woodlands and nature centres to study wildlife. Our aim is to nurture individuals who are open to the outside world, love to inquire, challenge and create, and want to make a difference in their adult lives.
We pride ourselves on our academic and teaching excellence, as testified by the 2021 IB Diploma results with an outstanding 98% pass rate and an average diploma score of 35.8, above the global pass rate of 31.98%. 25% of our students achieved 40 points or above which put them in the top 3% of students worldwide, with 1 student scoring a perfect score of 45, a feat achieved by only 0.6% of students worldwide. Our Higher Education & Careers team helped 97% of 2022 graduates secure a place at their first-choice university. Their focus is on finding the ‘best-fit’ destination, matching student aspirations with institutions at which they’ll continue to be happy and successful. Almost 50% of students going to a UK university have been accepted at a Russell Group institution.
Our small class sizes and welcoming friendly atmosphere make it easy for all new families to settle into the Southbank community. We make sure our schools are a place where trust, respect and transparency are at the heart of the student- teacher relationships. Our teachers know that a school environment that is open and trusting will mean students come forward if they need help and we can identify how to support them quickly if needed.
