Lancaster Royal Grammar School

Lancaster Royal Grammar School is a fabulous school which offers a wealth of opportunities to boys aged 11- 18 with a coeducational sixth form. Besides academic progress, skills and interests are nurtured and developed which adds to the confidence of pupils. Parents and pupils are very proud of the school. Overview
Established in the 13th century, we are one of the UK's top grammar schools for boys with a coeducational sixth form and as a state school, education is free for all pupils. We are a successful, modern, state boarding school. Rated as 'outstanding' across all categories by Ofsted, boarding at Lancaster Royal Grammar School costs about a third of the fees payable at independent schools; we believe we are an outstanding alternative to the independent sector. We are welcoming sixth form girls into boarding in September 2020.

There are 1151 pupils at the school, including 153 boarders and a thriving Sixth Form of 350 students. As well as encouraging pupils to reach their academic potential we provide opportunities for them to develop their sporting, cultural, artistic and musical talents to the full.

Achievements
Our pupils achieve outstanding exam results with most of our leavers going on to university, many of them to the most competitive institutions, including up to 15 each year to Oxford and Cambridge. We also enjoy a national reputation for sporting excellence.

Where are we?
Located in the historic city of Lancaster we have excellent travel links. We are 2½ hours by train from London, on a direct train route to Manchester airport and 3 miles from the M6.
