Founded in 1975, Collingham is an independent, co-educational College that runs from year 9 through to Sixth Form. Our aim is to enable individuals to discover their strengths, set their own goals and develop their potential and confidence. At the same time, we are uncompromising in our commitment to academic standards, personal integrity and the development of a sense of responsibility. We provide expert tuition, and a clear structure of work, all in small supportive classes of up to 9 students.
There are about 180 students at Collingham, from different backgrounds and across the ability range. The students who are nearly all based in London are between 13 and 19 years of age. Those who join for GCSE generally continue to A Levels.
The college prides itself on excellent academic outcomes. coupled with outstanding pastoral care. The ISI 2023 inspection report rated the College as excellent for educational provision. 2024 university placements included Cambridge (2) Imperial College (3) St, Andrews, Exter, Bristol, Durham. UCL, KCL and St Martins.
The Collingham A-level department is located in Kensington's heart, overlooking a beautiful garden square. Our proximity to world-class institutions such as the Victoria & Albert Museum, Imperial College and the Natural History Museum means students can access unparalleled cultural and academic resources. Formerly Gibbs’ Preparatory School, the large Arts and Crafts townhouse has been in educational use for over one hundred years. It has seen pass through its doors the likes of Robert Kennedy, Lord Snowden, Prince Edward, Viscount Linley, and even Christopher Robin Milne, AA Milne’s son and inspiration for the British classic, Winnie the Pooh.
The GCSE and year 9 campus is located just off Kensington Square. The GCSE building was once William Thackery’s house and was the location where he wrote his most celebrated novel, “ Vanity Fair”.
