Two Week Biodiversity Research Camp (For Schools)
We run 6 camps a year during school half terms for secondary school students (Years 7–13), and we were delighted to recently host students from St George's Diocesan School in Windhoek for our biodiversity camp. Give your students the experience of a lifetime as they undertake their own unique biodiversity research projects where the ocean meets the desert. What's included:
- Begin with a road trip across the Kalahari Desert, spotting oryx, vultures, ostriches and springbok along the way
- Live in our unique boarding houses — beautiful historic Lüderitz buildings with stunning architecture and some of the best views in town
- Explore the town of Lüderitz, with its rich history and coastal charm
- Work with local experts on a two-week research project and final presentation
- Take a boat trip to the kelp forest and see African penguins on Halifax Island
- Visit the world-famous ghost town of Kolmanskop and walk through its sand-filled rooms
- Drive on a night safari, track brown hyenas, experience a traditional braai, and much more…
By the end of their time here, your students will have gained a deeper appreciation of the ocean, the desert, and their wildlife — learning about Namibian sustainability efforts, exploring the biodiversity of Lüderitz, and stepping into history at Diaz Point and Shark Island.
