Mayfield Girls Excel in Latest A Level Exams

Mayfield, a leading Catholic independent day and boarding school for girls, is proud to announce that its students have excelled in this year’s A-Level examinations, achieving an outstanding 81% of grades at A*-B, with half of all grades awarded being A* or A.

Mayfield’s Upper Sixth girls have secured places at prestigious universities across the UK and abroad, including Oxford, Bristol, Durham, York, UCL, King’s College, and The Courtauld Institute of Art.

The girls will be pursuing a diverse range of courses, from traditional subjects like Economics, English, Maths, Modern Languages, and the Sciences to more specialised fields such as Architecture, Engineering, History of Art, Law, Medicine, Psychology, and Veterinary Medicine.

Cosima, an accomplished debater with numerous accolades from Model United Nations school competitions, has secured two A*s and an A in her A-levels, earning her a place at Oxford University. She will be studying Classics and French. Cosima expressed her gratitude, saying: "The languages departments at Mayfield have been amazing, and all my teachers have been so incredibly supportive throughout my time here. I’m looking forward to starting at Oxford, but I will truly miss my friends and teachers at school."

Bella, Mayfield's Deputy Head Girl and Academic and Sports Scholar, has achieved an outstanding four A*s in her A-levels, securing a place at UCL to study Mathematics. Reflecting on her success, Bella said: "I’m absolutely delighted with my results and thrilled that I’m going to UCL. Boarding at Mayfield in Sixth Form really helped me to focus on my studies. I want to say a big thank you to all of my teachers for their support. After seven years, I’m sad to leave but so excited for the future!"

Joyce, a talented musician and international boarder, has secured a place to study Medicine at Bristol, achieving four A*s and an A* in her EPQ (Extended Project Qualification). Joyce reflected: "My Sixth Form experience at Mayfield has been life changing. I am eternally grateful to Mayfield for always making me feel valued and welcomed; I'd like to especially thank my teachers for inspiring my love for science and helping me become a better self. I'm looking forward to the next chapter of my life!"

Annabel, from Mayfield and winner of the Royal Geographical Society's Young Geographer of the Year Competition, has achieved two A*s and an A in her A-levels. She will be continuing her academic journey at Durham University, where she will study Geography. Annabel said: "I'm looking forward to continuing to study Geography at university and building on everything I've learnt at school. Thank you so much to all the teachers who've helped me on my journey through Mayfield and given me so many opportunities and so much support. It has been an amazing seven years."

Yaa, a talented actor who starred in Mayfield's recent production of The Addams Family, has achieved two As and a B in her A-levels. She will be heading to Warwick University to study Classical Civilisation. Reflecting on her time at Mayfield, Yaa said: “I am extremely happy with my results, and I cannot thank Mayfield enough for providing me with the tools to succeed. Juggling A-levels and extracurricular activities like drama and sports was not easy. However, throughout it all I felt supported and encouraged by my teachers and the Mayfield community.”

Headmistress Deborah Bligh commented: "I am thrilled with our latest exam results, which build upon our long-standing tradition of academic excellence. These achievements are a testament to the hard work and commitment of both our students and teachers. Just as important as their fantastic A-Level results, our students leave us with a strong moral compass, lasting friendships, and the confidence to embrace the next stage of their lives with hope and optimism. I am deeply grateful to our students for sharing their many gifts and talents with us during their time at Mayfield, and I look forward to hearing of their continued success in their future endeavours."
