NorthWood Senior is a new independent co-educational senior school for pupils aged 11 to 16 in South West London and part of the Northwood Schools family, due to open in September 2020.
NorthWood Senior will be the fourth school within the group joining Broomwood Hall Lower School (boys and girls 4-8), Northcote Lodge (boys 8-13) and Broomwood Hall Upper School (girls 8-13) - and including St George’s in Ethiopia, is the fifth school that the group has opened. Together, they offer an unrivalled quality of education from 4-16.
NorthWood Senior will bring to life the group’s vision of what a modern senior school should be and will extend and expand the group’s successful child-centred, nurturing approach to education that delivers both academic excellence and creates well rounded, creative, resilient and independent learners.
The school will offer all of the core subjects at GCSE across the arts, languages, STEM subjects, humanities, music and sport – but as a small school, our intention is to be able to offer a more bespoke approach to enable pupils to study subjects that might be unavailable in larger schools where timetabling is more of an issue. The strong focus on pastoral care that the group is known for at the preparatory level will continue, and there will be an equally strong focus on life skills as preparation for the changing demands of the 21st century workplace and the challenges of modern life including, but not limited to, financial budgeting, first aid and community projects.
NorthWood Senior will open at 3 Garrad’s Road, SW16 in what is currently one of the group’s pre-prep sites. A sympathetic extension and expansion will transform the current building into a school that delivers all that a modern senior school needs in a nurturing, focussed environment.
