Concord College is a highly academic coeducational international college for boarding and day students. The school has 540 students between the ages of 13 and 19. The word Concord means 'harmony' and we welcome students from all over the world and the local area into our diverse, vibrant and friendly community.
Concord is a very special place. As England's premier international school, it is a school in which young people can flourish, find confidence and a sense of self-worth whilst achieving the very highest academic standards. Parents can also be assured that Concord's secure and beautiful rural campus is a safe and healthy place for any child to grow. Concord is also a warm, calm and friendly community in which values of trust and decency are shared between staff and students in a mature atmosphere of mutual respect. If you have a chance to visit, you will see a lot of smiling faces.
Academically, the results speak for themselves. Not only do Concord students produce astonishing GCSE and A level performances, but they also go on to attend top universities in the UK and around the world. Concord is annually ranked extremely highly in UK school league tables and has been rated 'exceptional' by the UK's Independent Schools Inspectorate (2013). In 2016 the top university destinations of Concord leavers were Cambridge (20 students), Imperial College London (18 students), The London School of Economics (12) and University College London (17).
The academic grades required for university entry are certainly the 'passport' that students need to move on to the next stage of their academic lives. But, the real art of education is to develop the confidence and self-worth of the young person holding the 'passport' that grades provide. Moral values and the soft skills of empathy, communication, team-working and time management are just as important to develop the confidence that is so central to any young person's future.
The comprehensive enrichment programme at Concord enables students to try new things; to help and encourage students to live a healthy and safe lifestyle; to encourage a positive perception by students of life, raising their aspirations and increasing their motivation and confidence; and to develop the knowledge, skills and personal qualities that prepare them for adulthood, university and employment.
One of the great strengths of the college is its sense of community. In addition to our students from the UK (who make up roughly 10-15% of the total) our students come to us from all over the world. Concord's ethos is based on looking beyond differences and bringing people together by sharing common bonds: students value learning, respect each other and appreciate the skills and expertise of their teachers. Students also find that the college is small enough to feel it is their home from home.
At Concord students often make friendships that can last a lifetime. Concord students go on to develop these friendships at university as well as socially and professionally into their adult lives. The Concord alumni network is increasingly active: recent gatherings have been held in Kuala Lumpur, Bahrain, Jordan, Hong Kong, Shanghai and in the UK.
