Mount House School, building on the success of St Martha’s is a small, coeducational senior school located in Hadley Wood. With a Christian foundation it is a school that accepts pupils from all faiths and no faith. Central to the school is our motto of “Inspiring Every Individual” which is achieved through knowing, cherishing and challenging every pupil.

It is the expectation that all pupils will be Adaptable, Supportive, Inquisitive, Resilient and Excellent. It is this focus on the individual that not only ensures outstanding pastoral care but also excellent academic results which in 2017 included 40% of all grades at A level being A*-A and 57% of all grades at A level. This needs to be seen within the context of a school that is not academically selective and prides itself on the success that is achieved by pupils both inside and outside the classroom.

Mount House School’s calm and supportive environment motivates its pupils to develop individuality and become independent learners, encouraging creativity, initiative and a deep love of learning. Each pupil is allowed to develop their own unique talents and is encouraged to become involved in the local community through a wide breadth of social projects. Mount House is an exceptional day school in that it is small enough to nurture and value each pupil and student and large enough to provide them with a diverse and rich range of learning opportunities.

Sports are an important part of life at Mount House with pupils competing in school, county, national and international fixtures and competitions. The school recognizes that competition and sport develop self-esteem, confidence and leadership skills, so encourages the pupils to participate in a wide variety of sports including hockey, football, athletics, gymnastics, netball, swimming, golf, basketball, sailing, rounders and badminton. Mount House running and swimming athletes have shown particular promise in the last 12 months competing and placing gold and silver for the county and UK at events.

An integral part of Mount House’s pastoral provision is the Tutorial System, with each pupil matched to a Personal Tutor who provides one-on-one personal support from the day they start at the school. Tutors meet weekly with their tutees and are a link between parents and their child’s subject teachers; they monitor the pupils' academic progress, advising on their choice of subjects as they progress through the school and advising on career possibilities on the strength of the close bond and relationship they develop.

Mount House provides daily school bus and shuttle services to and from local rail and underground stations. The routes available on the bus service are extensive and we are accommodating in trying to add new pick up points on routes which currently cover Arkley, Canons Park, Cockfosters, Cricklewood, East Barnet, Edgware, Enfield, Finchley, Friern Barnet, Hadley Wood, Hampstead, Hendon, High Barnet, Mill Hill, New Barnet, Palmers Green, Southgate, Totteridge, Whetstone, Winchmore Hill and Woodside Park.

Choosing a school for your child for the vital years of secondary education is an important and often difficult task, and so we want to provide you with every opportunity to visit and be welcomed by us. Please come along to see just what makes us so special and experience at first hand why so many parents are choosing Mount House to educate their daughters. We have numerous Open Mornings for entry at First Form and a dedicated Open Evening for entry into Sixth Form. The Admissions team are happy to organise individual visits and tours of the school. Please contact them on 0208 449 6889 or admissions@mounthouse.org.uk.
