Nicola Swales
Notting Hill Preparatory School
Nicola Swales joined NHP as Deputy Head (Academic) in September 2020. An English specialist, with a First-Class Degree in Music from the prestigious Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA), she joined NHP from North Bridge House Prep School in Regent’s Park, where she held the post of Assistant Headteacher and Director of Teaching and Learning. Prior to that, she spent seven years at the Dragon School in Oxford, where she spearheaded their Teaching and Learning Innovation Programme.
Whilst undertaking post-graduate study with Harvard University, she pushed for schools to use research-based evidence to improve the outcomes of pupils and to equip them with the skills they need to flourish in an ever-uncertain world. With over ten years’ experience preparing children for 11+, 13+ and scholarship entry to the country’s top independent schools, she has a strong track record leading children and parents successfully (and happily) through the senior school transfer process.
