Kerim Aytac
Kerim Aytac is a London-based educator, fine art photographer, and arts journalist. He completed his undergraduate studies in Communications and Film and his postgraduate degree in Image and Communication (Photography), both at Goldsmiths, University of London.
Kerim brings extensive experience in secondary and sixth-form education to Collingham. Having taught Film, Media, and Photography before leading the Creative Arts department, he now serves as Deputy Principal.
His deep commitment to Collingham stems from how closely the college’s ethos aligns with his own educational beliefs—prioritising the individual and providing the tailored environment necessary for students to flourish. Across his tenure, Kerim has shaped a dynamic, student-centred arts ethos where bespoke tutoring allows students to uncover and refine their distinct creative voices. His educational approach emphasises that visual literacy, critical thinking, and artistic practice should be embedded as an adaptable, lifelong passion rather than skills confined to the classroom.
Alongside his leadership role at Collingham, Kerim maintains an active professional practice in the visual arts. As a photographer, he has exhibited his work internationally in both solo and group exhibitions. His insight into contemporary visual culture is also informed by his background as an arts writer and journalist, reviewing exhibitions and writing on photography and visual culture—an experience that directly enriches his teaching and curricular guidance.
He is proud to be of mixed British/Turkish heritage and a ‘juslim’! He has one daughter and would love to travel more - particularly to Japan.
