Iona Hutchinson
Iona went to boarding school and is passionate about the value that an all-rounded boarding education can provide. She attended West Heath School in Kent and then went on to read music at Anglia Ruskin University, graduating in 1992 with a BA hons degree in music (piano and cello). Her career prior to working for schools was in the theatre and opera business, working initially on productions for companies such as Opera North and Clonter Opera, before reviving Britain’s oldest opera company, the Carl Rosa Opera Company in 1998. During her 10 years in the theatre business, she produced West End comedies for the cruise line industry and a series of plays and musicals in London’s West End.
Iona joined Charterhouse as Director of Admissions in 2016, having previously been the Registrar at Haileybury College from 2011-2016. It is an exciting time in Charterhouse’s history as the school’s move to full coeducation has been successfully achieved alongside significant investment across the campus, elevating Charterhouse to a world-class school of distinction.
