Joining Alleyn's in 2006 as Teacher of PE and Games, Gavin English worked his way up through taking on the position of Head of Football and Pastoral Deputy followed by Director of Sport in 2017, a role he kept until September 2022 when he became Deputy Head (Pastoral).
In November 2021, Gavin founded and launched The Alleyn's Academy; an ambitious outreach programme which aims to provide opportunities to break down barriers to access and enable social mobility through sport. This initiative continues to welcome over 100 pupils and their parents to Alleyn's each week for a fun-filled evening of sporting action.
Gavin has a unique insight into the Alleyn's experience, having been brought up in South London and receiving a Bursary place to attend the school himself.
Outside of Alleyn's Gavin is a proud dad of two and he continues to work closely with the Independent Schools FA. He is also the Chair of Governors for a large state secondary school which is part of one of the UK's largest Multi Academy Trusts and is a Chairman of a non-league football club.
