Chris Carlier is Headmaster of Aldro, a coeducational day and boarding school in Godalming, Surrey. Chris was educated first at Monkton Prep and then at Sherborne. He studied French and German at St. Anne’s College, Oxford, then for his PGCE at St Catherine’s College, Cambridge and more recently for his Masters in Educational Leadership at Buckingham. Before he arrived at Aldro in 2019, Chris taught at Bradfield College where he was Head of French and subsequently Senior Housemaster and where he also coached hockey and squash. Chris is an ISI Inspector and formerly a school governor in both the state and independent sectors. Chris believes keenly in building school communities based on strong, core values and has high expectations for children’s achievement, both academically and in the co-curricular. He relishes the privilege of preparing Aldro pupils for transition to as many as 40 different senior schools and life beyond. Chris is married to Nicky, and they have three teenage children of their own.
