Katharine Woodcock

Headmistress, Francis Holland School, Regent's Park
United Kingdom

Katharine is often heard to say she has the best job in the world. She is the proud Head of Francis Holland, Regent's Park, which she joined in September 2022. Prior to this, she was Head of Sydenham High School GDST, and she has been working in girls' schools since 2005, having previously been Senior Deputy Head at Queen's College, London. Her teaching career began as a Resident Tutor at Oakham School where she taught both French and Russian, having read languages at Bristol University. She later went on to become a Housemistress before relocating to London with her family.

Katharine sits on the Independent Schools Teaching Induction Panel and is on the HMC Professional Development Committee. She is also a governor of a state primary school in Harrow. Katharine comes from a long line of teachers in her family, and spent time teaching abroad before qualifying as a teacher in the UK. She is passionate about girls' education and giving young people the best educational opportunities, inside and outside the classroom. She champions a ‘schooling for life’ approach to education, which blends academic excellence with empathy, so that students leave school with both the requisite qualifications and skills to thrive and succeed in life.

In her spare time, Katharine enjoys running and being with her husband and two grown-up up children. Her one outstanding ambition is to write a novel!
