West Buckland School stands proudly among the top-performing schools in the entire South West of England, offering an exceptional British education within a nurturing and secure environment.

West Buckland School is a place where children can lay strong foundations, grow with confidence, and flourish at a pace that suits them. From the earliest years, our students are inspired to achieve high academic standards while embracing a rich programme of extracurricular and enrichment activities. Every child is encouraged to explore their talents, broaden their interests, and make the most of every opportunity available to them.

Sport and outdoor education are central to school life, supported by world-class facilities and expert coaching. Alongside traditional British and International sports, our award-winning tennis academy, led by one of the UK’s rare Level 5 coaches, has guided many young players to remarkable success.

Our outstanding Rugby provision, delivered in association with the Exeter Chiefs, offers girls and boys access to elite-level training. With eight dedicated rugby pitches and a roster of highly regarded, experienced guest coaches visiting regularly, our programme provides exceptional development pathways and excellent onward opportunities.

Our 25m indoor swimming pool, squash courts, sports halls, athletics track, fitness suite and astroturf pitch all contribute to a vibrant sporting culture, with many students competing at regional and national levels.

Our unique location also enables exciting outdoor pursuits such as surfing, coasteering, trekking, orienteering, Duke of Edinburgh Award and the prestigious Ten Tors challenge. Our own Combined Cadet Force offers unforgettable leadership experiences through regular camps on Dartmoor National Park.

Creativity thrives at West Buckland School. Our state-of-the-art 150 Arts Centre, considered one of the finest in the region, is home to three professional art studios, two design technology workshops and theatre. This dynamic creative hub has inspired many students to progress to world-renowned institutions such as the Ruskin School of Art, Glasgow School of Art and Central Saint Martins.

Music and drama are woven into daily life. At break times, it is common to hear a choir rehearsing, an orchestra performing or actors preparing for their next production. Our school musicals, performed in a major local theatre, consistently delight audiences with their professional standard and imaginative staging.

Over the past decade, significant investment has reshaped our campus. In addition to the 150 Arts Centre, we now boast a superb sports complex, an impressive fitness suite and the elegant Michael Morpurgo Library. Our newest pride is Parker’s, the Sixth Form boarding house - offering 70 luxurious single, en-suite rooms, inviting social spaces and modern kitchens designed to help students develop independence and readiness for university life.

At West Buckland School, we aim to develop young people who are not only academically accomplished, but also well-mannered, confident, resilient and globally aware. Our students leave us with strong values, an international outlook and a clear sense of who they are and what they can achieve.
