Handmade, for you.

Merchant Taylors’ is renowned for its outstanding academic education, but what truly sets a Taylors’ education apart is our focus on unlocking each pupil’s individual potential. We create an environment where students thrive by nurturing their unique passions, interests and aspirations.

At the heart of our approach is a commitment to knowing each pupil and encouraging them to take advantage of the endless opportunities available at Taylors’. Within a culture that celebrates excellence and cherishes kindness, our pupils gain the confidence to find their niche and develop to their fullest potential. We understand that every child develops best when supported as an individual. That’s why we value small groups, long-term relationships and taking the time to get to know one another.

Setup for life beyond school

At Taylors’, our education is focused on encouraging students to take advantage of every opportunity that comes their way. Every year, we invite alumni to speak to pupils, sharing their career insights, leading workshops, and providing guidance not only in their professional fields but also in key skills like interviewing, project planning, and helping pupils find their passions and interests.

Endless opportunities

Boys are encouraged to try new activities, honing existing talents and discovering new ones. In addition to a broad curriculum covering the arts and sports, there are over 110 clubs and societies every term to indulge all passions. We also encourage groups of like-minded pupils to create new clubs, allowing them to explore their shared interests.

The opportunities don’t end at the school gates. Each term, we host events for the wider school community, ranging from social events, plays and concerts to our specialised coaching courses for parents to help strengthen bonds and ensure that every pupil’s educational journey is fully supported.

Small groups, strong support

Vertical tutor groups are an essential part of building connections and providing support for your son. Each tutor group consists of two pupils from each year group and is led by a dedicated teacher who will remain with that group throughout their time at the school.

This structure ensures that, no matter the situation, pupils will always have familiar faces to turn to across the school. During tutor sessions, younger pupils benefit from the wisdom and guidance of their older peers, and in time they too will have the opportunity to mentor new students, passing on the knowledge they’ve gained as they move up the school.

At Taylors’, everything we do is focused on helping each pupil achieve individual success and fulfilment. We believe that when boys are happy, engaged and passionate about their learning, they are best positioned to reach their full potential.

We would be delighted to show you what we mean by a ‘handmade education’ - a tailored, enriching experience that meets each boy where he is and helps him grow. Join us at one of our open mornings or if you prefer a more personal visit, we’d be happy to arrange a tour led by our sixth form students.
