At Lord Wandsworth College, there are five key pillars that inspire our pupils, leaving them with an inner self-confidence, but an outward modesty to make a positive difference in the world.  We believe in:  Character Education; the pupil voice; creating opportunities to make a difference to others (our +1), challenging pupils to be two years ahead academically (our + 2) and good mental health and happiness (our +3).

The campus is set in 1,200 acres of countryside on the North Hampshire/ Surrey border and LWC provides a safe, secure and wonderfully inspiring and caring learning environment.

Encouraging every pupil to be as good as they possibly can be, we achieve excellent examinations results and create confident, capable, extremely levelheadedand happy young people who are ready to make their mark on the world.

Academic Enrichment (+2)

This programme is represented by a +2 symbol and is all about a new mind set where we ask our students to stretch and challenge themselves to an academic level two years ahead of where they currently are. Inspirational teaching is at the heart of this programme and above all, there is the engagement with truly varied subject matter and a sense of real fellowship between student and teacher.

Co-Curriculum and Leadership

The educational experience is enhanced by over 100 opportunities to lead whether it is taking part in Duke of Edinburgh, peer mentoring, house committees, CCF, running a club, being a departmental prefect or one of the many other activities taking place on a weekly basis. There is an incredible choice of sport, music, drama within the extensive co-curricular programme to stretch and challenge students.

Tutors and One-to-One Support

Tutors are on hand to support our students with their learning and communicate with parents.  They mentor students with one-to-one sessions as needed as well as tutor sessions that take place three times per week.

Pupil Voice

With genuine opportunities to make a difference, we want our students to feedback on all aspects of College life and to have their voice heard. Their views on teaching methods, campus developments and the co-curricular on offer are all part of this process to engage and empower.

Boarding and Community

Boarding provides a distinctive sense of community and a fantastic environment in which to form strong bonds and lifelong friendships.   The independence that living in a boarding house community offers is great preparation for the transition to University.

6thForm

6thFormers are given the freedom to develop their independence, explore new interests, and rise to leadership opportunities alongside their academic commitments.   The A level subjects we offer are considered robust and facilitating and are held in high regard by Universities.

A Level classes consist of approx. 6-12 students, depending on the subject, giving everyone the chance to make a valuable contribution, maximise their learning and really engage with their subjects.

Additional responsibilities, a more flexible timetable and a growing focus on life after school means students are able to develop greater confidence and are well prepared for University and beyond.

Higher Education Programme and Careers Support

We offer comprehensiveHigher Education guidance, enabling students to progress successfully to University or College and into the world of work.

Our students go on to all UK universities and occasionally to the USA or Europe.  They study a wide range of subjects, whichreflects the diverse nature of our student body.

Our experienced Head of Careers delivers a detailed Careers Programme for all senior students.   We are fortunate to have support from a great number of our alumni, who provide our students with a wealth of industry expertise and inspiration at LWC’s Careers Fair.

In conclusion

Ask students about their time at LWC and they will speak of the excellent relationships with staff, the responsibilities they are entrusted with and the sense of fun, good humour and family atmosphere that pervades - wrapped up, of course, with an inner drive and determination to shine in wherever their passions lie. The seeds of becoming the leaders and employers of tomorrow are sown, whilst savouring all that is on offer and having a great deal of fun along the way.
