For over 70 years, Aiglon College has offered students a holistic and inspirational experience that pushes the boundaries of traditional education. John Corlette founded the school in 1949 on a distinctive ethos: the balanced development of mind, body, and spirit.
The school, nestled at 1,200 metres in the Swiss Alps, is home to over 460 students, from 7-18 years old, representing more than 60 different nationalities. From junior through to senior school, students benefit from all the advantages of an international boarding environment. They form lasting bonds with each other and with excellent educators who guide them towards academic
and personal success. Aiglon considers intercultural education to be foundational elements of its school culture, values, practices and preparations for life.
Aiglon’s remarkable national and cultural diversity is an inspiring example of how, on a small scale, we are able to build a harmonious and fulfilled community.
Varied Academic Programme
The school follows an international curriculum model, with students following a bespoke curriculum programme in Years 3-9 and then taking IGCSEs in Years 10 and 11 or following Aiglon’s Pre-IB programme, before completing the academically challenging and holistic International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) and Aiglon Diploma in Years 12 and 13.
The junior school is designed to inspire wonder and discovery, and leads seamlessly into the senior school curriculum, where students take on greater responsibility for their own learning and are encouraged to develop their own interests and aptitudes. On entering the senior school students take on a greater range of subjects.
Aiglon staff are enthusiastic, experienced, committed, reflective, dynamic and willing to try new ideas. They have varied and diverse interests and passions that are evident both in and out of the classroom setting.
Sports & Expeditions
Physical Education (PE) lessons provide many opportunities for students to pursue their sporting passions. Students at Aiglon take part in a range of physical activities, from basketball and tennis to fitness and alpine running. Aiglon boasts a stunning location and world class facilities,
including the Tony Jashanmal Sports Centre, the state-of-the-art facility which includes two multi-use, full sized courts and fitness suite and two outdoor Astroturf football pitches. Unique to Aiglon, students must complete at least two or three expeditions each term, undertaking activities such as rock climbing, cross country skiing, and three-day Long Expeditions, among others.
Community & Service
Aiglon instils in all students a sense of service and all contribute to the school and wider community, whether that is as a year representative on the student council; taking charge of a project, club or society; or being recognised as one of the student leaders – a Prefect, House Captain, or School Guardian. As students move through the school there are endless opportunities to contribute and, ultimately, to make a difference.
University Advising
Beginning in the senior school, the university advising department works individually with students to mentor and guide them through IB course selection, career research and the university search and application process. Formal programming is in place for students to fully understand the expectations of the years that follow their Aiglon education. The department consists of expert advisors who are trained in admissions practices and procedures around the world. Through this expertise, the team offers personalised advising services to all students and parents, covering application requirements and financial aid/scholarship searches.
