Steyning students raise thousands for NSPCC
On Friday (December 9th) sixth formers dressed as inflatable Santas,The Avengers, fairies and Despicable Me’s Gru and The Minions to visit local high streets, offices and schools collecting for the children’s charity.
It was a freezing cold day but the public gave generously to the teams of fundraisers who were stationed in Brighton, Hove, Steyning, Henfield,Worthing and surrounding areas.
The Jailbreak event has been an SGS tradition for the last 30 years and sees students ‘breaking out’ of school, using a variety of different vehicles, before taking to the streets to raise money. Assistant headteacher Claire Monahan said:“ Jailbreak is a school tradition and this year’s event was absolutely fantastic. We were thrilled to raise so much for the NSPCC, given how difficult times are at the moment.
Carole Naunton, chair of NSPCC South and Mid Sussex branch said: "This will go to support NSPCC services like Childline and help the NSPCC be there for children, everyday."
