Millfield pentathletes produce incredible results at European Championships
Millfield pentathletes competed in the 2024 Biathle, Triathle and Laser Run European Championships at Madeira Island, Portugal, producing exceptional results.
In Individual Laser Run, Year 3 Zachary Dowden was fifth in the U9 Boys event, Year 5 Willow Saunders was fifth in the U11 Girls, Year 6 Eloise Suffield was fifth in the U13 Girls event, Year 8 Bea Soper was second while Year 9 Ruby Bodman was fifth in the U15 Girls and Year 8 Eva Dowden was 13th in the U17 Girls event.
Willow Saunders claimed team relay gold in the U11 Girls Relay and fifth in the U11 Mixed Relay. Bea Soper won team relay gold in the U15 Girls Relay and seventh in the U15 Mixed Relay. Ruby Bodman won team relay gold in the U15 Mixed Relay.
In Biathle, Willow Saunders was second in the U11 Girls event and won gold in the U11 Girls Relay and U11 Mixed Relay. Year 7 Polly Warman was second in the U15 Individual Girls, while Ruby Bodman was sixth. Polly won team gold in both the U15 Girls Relay event and the U15 Mixed Relay. Year 7 Kruze Frampton was eighth in the U15 Boys event. Lower Sixth Gerard McGrady was eighth in the U19 Boys, and claimed team silver in the U19 Boys Relay.
In Individual Triathle, Zachary Dowden was 16th in the U11 Boys, while Willow Saunders was fourth in the U11 Girls event. Year 6 Raffie Bodman was 15th in the U13 Boys event, while Kruze Frampton was seventh in the U15 Boys. Ruby Bodman was third in the U15 Girls event, while Eva Dowden was 12th in the U17 Girls. Willow Saunders claimed silver in the U11 Mixed Relay.
A special mention goes to Year 9 Valentina Kemp, who despite sustaining an injury just days before the competition, still attended the event, offering unwavering support to her teammates, cheering them on, and creating engaging video content to capture the excitement of the competition.
Millfield regularly enters athletes for regional and national competitions in biathle, biathlon, triathlon, tetrathlon and pentathlon. Millfield is a Pentathlon GB accredited Talent Hub, and athletes are regularly considered for international representation.
Old Millfieldian pentathletes include former Olympian and Pentathlon GB Team Leader Dominic Mahoney and Irish Olympian and European Champion Arthur Lanigan O’Keeffe.
